Notre Dame Tailgating - Notre Dame, Indiana - Ivy Court Inn & Suites

When you stay at the Ivy Court Inn & Suites in the fall for home Notre Dame football games, you’ll find yourself right in the middle of the action. Each weekend, tailgaters fill the open campus greens on the north and west sides of our property, transforming the normally serene atmosphere around the hotel into a buzz of excitement and anticipation.

From 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday mornings during home football games, the hotel hosts the 960AM pre-game radio broadcast from our west porch. This radio show brings in past players and coaches for interviews that are broadcast not only across the airways, but across Ivy Court’s lawn. Some of the show’s past guests have included Mike McCoy, John Scully, Robin Weber, David Grimes, Jim Flanigan, Chris Zorich, Patrick Steenberge, and Mark Bavaro. We have even had a visit from the real-life Rudy!

After enjoying our full, hot breakfast buffet and listening to the on-site radio broadcast, take a couple of steps in any direction to visit the many pubs, restaurants, and shops in the area for your ready-to-go party. If you prefer to set up your own tailgate in the parking spaces provided with your room, you can enjoy the views from the porches and lawns of the hotel with the perfect tailgating location.

If you choose to tailgate on the property of Notre Dame’s campus, you are just a seconds away from their regulated tailgate areas. Notre Dame has one of the best tailgating atmospheres in college football, but tailgating rules are strictly enforced on campus. Here are the parking lot rules:

• Use one space per car, use aisles for tailgate parties instead of using additional parking spaces.
• Tailgate parties are not permitted during the game.
• Kegs are not permitted in the parking lots.
• Abuse of the rights of others as a result of the use of intoxicating beverages will not be tolerated in the parking lots or on any University grounds.
• Large parties and the use of tents is not permitted on campus, including the parking lots.
• Grills using charcoal are prohibited from use on University property. Numerous fires and subsequent property damage have resulted from improper disposal of the charcoal. The maximum propane gas cylinder size allowed will be 20 pounds.
• All vehicles must be removed from the parking lots within three hours of the conclusion of the game.
